SITM: Looking ahead after Michigan's spring game, Michigan State's run to the Final Four

Sports in the Mitten is powered by

This past weekend was the start of a new for Michigan football and the end of a valiant run to the Final Four for Michigan State basketball—so Adam Biggers and John Gustin decide to dive right into those topics during this episode of Sports in the Mitten.

This past Saturday, the Wolverines took the field for the first time under new coach Jim Harbaugh. It wasn’t a pretty spring game, but it provided some insight—Adam outlines the good and bad of the Blue Team, which won 7-0, versus the Maize Team, and evaluates position groups and individual performances.

On Saturday night, the Spartans’ miracle season was cut short by Duke, which is now 9-1 versus Tom Izzo under coach Mike Krzyzewski. The 81-61 loss stung, but it shouldn’t overshadow how the one-time bubble team conquered all odds en route to the Final Four in Indianapolis.

Adam and John discuss the finer details of the season that re-energized Michigan State basketball.

And they also talk about former Spartans star Draymond Green, who is experiencing a meteoric rise on the court and in the headlines. Find out what the Golden State Warriors have to say about Day-Day’s mouth, via Grantland.

Michigan senior-to-be Spike Albrecht is expected to miss at least four to five months of the offseason due to hip surgery. He needs both fixed, so he could be in for a long summer.
